AboutUs

In 1975 a small group of avid back country skiers formed the NSW Nordic Ski Club. Then, knickerbockers and light skis were the trademark of the ski touring fraternity. Nowadays you are just as likely to see a club member in lycra skating in the Kangaroo Hoppet or carving turns down the crags on shaped telemark or alpine touring skis.

The club's activities span the entire spectrum of cross country skiing; including backcountry touring, telemark, alpine touring, track and racing. The common value shared by all club members is a passion for freeheel and back country skiing, regardless of which way you like to do it!

The club promotes wilderness safety and alpine country heritage. It was the official caretaker of Four Mile Hut (now destroyed in bushfire), near Kiandra. The club promotes minimal impact skiing and encourages members to preserve our unique alpine environment.

The club is a non-profit association. Trip leaders and coordinators are members who volunteer their time and skills. The club does not have a lodge.
